President of Beni-Suef University Inaugurates the Renovated Chest Diseases and Vascular Surgery Departments at University Hospitals
Expanding Capacity and Enhancing the Quality of Healthcare Services
Professor Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni-Suef University, inaugurated the newly renovated Chest Diseases Department and Vascular Surgery Department at Beni-Suef University Hospitals. The inauguration was attended by a distinguished group of academic, medical, and administrative leaders, including:
Professor Hany Hamed, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board.
Professor Emad El-Banna, Executive Director of Beni-Suef University Hospitals.
Professor Mohamed Nagi Mohiesen Omran, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development.
Professor Mahmoud El-Batanony, Head of the Chest Diseases Department.
Professor Nabila Laz, Former Head of the Chest Diseases Department.
Dr. Hany Gomaa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Beni-Suef.

Remarks by the University President
Professor Tarek Ali emphasized that the development of the healthcare system remains one of the university’s highest priorities. He noted that the university hospitals serve not only the residents of Beni-Suef Governorate but also neighboring governorates. The renovation projects were undertaken in response to the growing number of patients and the university’s commitment to providing a comprehensive healthcare environment that aligns with the latest medical standards, in line with the significant advancements witnessed in Egypt’s healthcare sector.
Development of the Chest Diseases Department
Professor Hany Hamed stated that the renovation project included:
Increasing the number of beds from 14 to 28.
Equipping the department with the latest medical and diagnostic technologies.
Enhancing healthcare, educational, and research services.
New Facilities and Equipment in the Chest Diseases Department
According to Professor Emad El-Banna, the department has been equipped with:
Six bronchoscopy units.
One thoracoscopy unit.
Four pulmonary function testing devices.
One sleep study unit.
A modern lecture hall.
Two advanced ultrasound machines.
A fully equipped pharmaceutical preparation room.
An intensive care unit within the department.
Development of the Vascular Surgery Department
The renovation project also included:
Adding six new beds.
Expanding patient capacity.
Enhancing the provision of advanced vascular surgical services.
Remarks by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine
Professor Hany Hamed Desouky expressed his appreciation for the successful inauguration of the Chest Diseases Department, emphasizing that this achievement was made possible through persistent efforts, continuous follow-up, and a firm commitment to improving healthcare services. He noted that these efforts have directly contributed to creating an integrated medical environment dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of chest diseases.
