Successful Open-Heart Surgery Using Minimally Invasive Technique at Beni Suef University Hospitals
The Cardiothoracic Surgery Team at Beni Suef University Hospitals has successfully performed an open-heart surgery to replace the mitral valve with a mechanical valve using the minimally invasive surgical technique. The procedure was carried out through a small incision on the side of the chest instead of opening the sternum, marking a significant medical achievement that reflects the remarkable development witnessed by the department.

The medical team affirmed that this technique is considered one of the most advanced and precise methods in cardiac surgery, as it offers several advantages, most notably rapid patient recovery and a return to normal life within approximately two weeks, in addition to reducing surgical complications, lowering infection rates, and achieving a better cosmetic outcome due to the small size of the incision.

The surgery was performed by the Cardiothoracic Surgery Team, which included:

Dr. Ahmed Hassan El-Magry, Lecturer of Cardiothoracic Surgery
Dr. Mohamed Talaat Ahmed, Assistant Lecturer of Cardiothoracic Surgery
Dr. Hosny Mohsen Hosny, Assistant Lecturer of Cardiothoracic Surgery
Dr. Ahmed Nasser Tawfik, Resident in Cardiothoracic Surgery

The Anesthesia Team also participated in the operation, consisting of:

Dr. Mohamed Moselhy, Assistant Professor of Anesthesia
Dr. Hanaa Fathy, Assistant Lecturer of Anesthesia and Intensive Care

Nursing support was provided by Dr. Salwa Mohamed and a group of assistant staff members and nurses.

This achievement was realized under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, Dr. Hany Hamed, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Beni Suef University Hospitals, Dr. Emad El-Banna, Executive Director of Beni Suef University Hospitals and under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Fathy Al-Alashqer, Head of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department.

The Administration of Beni Suef University Hospitals extended its sincere thanks and appreciation to all the participating medical and nursing teams, commending their sincere efforts and dedication in providing distinguished medical services worthy of the Egyptian citizen. It also emphasized that the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department is operating at full capacity and performing all types of cardiac and thoracic surgeries, including critical and emergency cases, achieving outstanding results that reflect the efficiency of the medical staff and the modern equipment available at the hospital.
